Actor Mehwish recently uploaded a video on social media urging people to donate to the Prime Minister Imran Khan's COVID19 relief fund.

The actor said that the country is facing a big challenge and 'how we behave right now, will decide our fate for generations to come.' She started off by emphasising that even the most efficient healthcare systems of the world have submitted in front of the prevailing pandemic.

'What chances do we have then? In a place like Karachi where 20 million people reside, the intensive care wards have only 600 beds. Pakistan's population is 220 million and the number of ventilators across the country? 1700. Last week there were only 15000 masks for doctors and nurses..'

The Chhalawa actor's video was shared with the caption, 'Front line medical staff need to have the right protective equipment to fight COVID-19 or the situation will deteriorate rapidly. We need to give what we can to the Prime Minister's relief fund. Also this is not a holiday-we have to stay at home to save lives. Together we will win this battle! IA'

In her video, she went on to reiterate the plight of all the doctors and nurses out there who are our first line of defense against the novel coronavirus. Hayat questioned how they will protect others if they don't have sufficient gear to protect themselves. 'Not only is their attendance being affected, but their health is also deteriorating.'

She then made an appeal to the government and the relevant regulatory authorities to ensure that the doctors are fully equipped. She also requested people to stay home and take all precautions as suggested by the govt.

'And the numbers are increasing by the day,' she said. 'Our single most seemingly insignificant carelessness can put several lives in danger.
