Grupo Catalana Occidente has signed two collaboration agreements to develop insurance solutions for people over 65 years of age. The aim of these new partnerships is to achieve insight and first-hand analysis of the needs of this sector of society. Secot is a non-profit organisation of official public interest that brings together retired professionals who want to offer their business management experience and expertise. Phyltime is an application that encourages the elderly to be active and engaged in society.

Both Secot and Phyltime are dedicated to harnessing the value of the elderly, and promoting relationships between them and institutions and the business world. Grupo Catalana Occidente will actively collaborate with the two organisations to listen to this group, who are consumers of a major group of specific goods and services, known as the silver economy.

For the Director of Innovation, Marketing and Business Development of Grupo Catalana Occidente, María José Álvarez, 'working with these two organisations is an opportunity to be closer to the elderly population, as they will help us to discover first-hand the issues that most concern them in terms of well-being and protection.'

Furthermore, by signing this agreement, Grupo Catalana Occidente is becoming a Secot Protector Partner. Through this collaboration, both organisations commit to promoting better health for the elderly.

Boosting innovation

Grupo Catalana Occidente is working on analysing trends that will dictate the future of the insurance sector, with the aim of producing insurance solutions to the challenges posed by the longevity and ageing of the population; adopting the IoT (Internet of Things); concern for cybersecurity; new consumption models, as well as changes in mobility, and more.

This adaptation strategy is being coordinated through the Xplora intra-entrepreneurship programme, through which Grupo Catalana Occidente wishes to promote innovation through the cultural transformation of its employees. In addition to training, Xplora deploys an open innovation model through the Group's collaboration with startups, research centres and other institutions. To do this, multi-disciplinary working groups have been created to innovate in the aforementioned market trends.
