'When Grupa Azoty acquired Unylon Polymers GmBH of Guben in 2010, its main goal was to balance Tarnów-bsed caprolactam and polyamide 6 production capacities and to solidify its market position in Europe. That goal was accomplished but our ambitious plan was to further grow the plastics business. In less than a decade, the succesful consolidation process and continuous operational efficiency improvement efforts have made us a leading plastics supplier, serving markets in over 40 countries around the world. Our market success, achieved through exemplary team work of our colleagues in Germany and Poland, laid the foundation for further expansion on the polyamide 6 market. Today, we are the EU's third largest polyamide 6 producer. The project we completed in Tarnów last year enabled us to fully balance caprolactam and polyamide 6 capacities at 170 tonnes per year. It is a great challenge, not only at the production level but also in terms of logistics and organisation. An immense role in the project is played by GA ATT Polymers,'
notes Witold Szczypiński, Vice President of the Management Board, Director General of Grupa Azoty S.A.

'The Guben Logistics Centre will primarily serve to distribute polyamide produced by ATT Polymers, but in the near future it will also supply customers across the EU with polyamide made in Tarnów. ATT Polymers is set to rise in prominence also because we are finalising a project to change the structure of our plastics sales organisation, and we are moving all sales operations to Germany. ATT Polymers is soon about to become the Group's central sales office for plastics. It is a clear signal to the market that we maintain our commitment to expanding our plastics business and that ATT Polymers is its cornerstone,' explains Małgorzata Malec, Head of the Plastics Segment.

The Guben Logistics Centre comprises a warehouse, a storage silo complex and the necessary infrastructure. The warehouse has a capacity of 3,500 mt and a total area of 5,500 sq m. Additional facilities include offices, workshops and store rooms. The distribution centre is equipped with silos, a packing station and transport and loading systems. The project's CAPEX is EUR 7.47m, of which EUR 1.5m has been provided as public aid by the government of Brandenburg.

The Grupa Azoty Group is the undisputed leader of the Polish fertilizer and chemical market and one of the key players in Europe. It is the second largest EU-based manufacturer of nitrogen and compound fertilizers, and its other products, including melamine, caprolactam, polyamide, oxo alcohols and titanium white, enjoy an equally strong standing in the chemical sector, with a wide range of applications in various industries. In May 2017, the Group unveiled its updated strategy until 2020. The key development areas cover completion of the Group's consolidation, reinforcing its leadership in agricultural solutions on the European market, strengthening the second operating pillar through expansion of the non-fertilizer business, as well as generating and implementing innovations to accelerate growth in the chemical sector. The Grupa Azoty Group is the integrator of Poland's chemical industry. By consolidating the plants in Tarnów, Puławy, Police and Kędzierzyn-Koźle, it has ensured that the key chemical companies have remained in Polish hands, while creating a number of cost synergies. By 2017, the consolidation of strategic procurement, production, maintenance, logistics and IT generated savings estimated at no less than PLN 710m. The integration has brought multiple benefits to the Polish economy, the Group as a whole, and its individual plants.
