LONDON (AP) _ Globe Specialty Metals Inc. (GSM) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $1.9 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The London-based company said it had net income of 1 cent per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 2 cents per share.

The producer of silicon metal and silicon-based alloys posted revenue of $418.5 million in the period.

Globe Specialty Metals shares have more than tripled since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $6, climbing twelvefold in the last 12 months.
