Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. today announced that it will make Innovation Factory Co., Ltd. a subsidiary, relocating it near the Fast Retailing Ariake Office in Koto Ward, Tokyo, and expanding production facilities. Fast Retailing jointly established Innovation Factory with Shima Seiki Mfg., Ltd., to develop and manufacture knit products.

Innovation Factory was a result of the strategic partnership with Shima Seiki, a global leader in computerized flat knitting machines. The facility is positioned as the lead factory in producing UNIQLO 3D Knit collections, which employ Japanese WHOLEGARMENT® technology to create knitwear three-dimensionally in one seamless piece that follows body contours for incredible fit and comfort.

With expanded facilities at its new location, Innovation Factory will establish production systems that are primarily for 3D Knit products and strengthen its role as a lead factory to share expertise with facilities in Vietnam, China, and elsewhere overseas. Innovation Factory is one element of the Ariake Project, through which Fast Retailing is endeavoring to swiftly commercialize value-added offerings as a digital consumer retail company.
