BRYN MAWR, Pa. (AP) _ Essential Utilities, Inc. (WTRG) on Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings of $80.9 million.

On a per-share basis, the Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of 32 cents.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 29 cents per share.

The water utility posted revenue of $397 million in the period.

Essential Utilities expects full-year earnings to be $1.64 to $1.69 per share.

Essential Utilities shares have risen slightly more than 5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $49.82, a climb of 10% in the last 12 months.
