Eni SpA said Monday that its subsidiary Eni Gas E Luce SpA has acquired Spanish utility Aldro Energia y Soluciones SLU from Grupo Pitma for an undisclosed sum.

Aldro Energia currently provides energy to 250,000 customers mainly in Spain and Portugal, focusing on small- and medium-sized enterprises, according to the Italian oil-and-gas major.

The acquisition will allow Eni to expand its presence in the European market and is in line with the aim to expand its portfolio, reaching 11 million customers by 2023, the company said.

The deal is subject to the authorization of relevant authorities.
