Companhia Energetica de Pernambuco is a Brazil-based company engaged in the electrical energy sector. The Company operates as a public service concessionary of electrical power, aimed to study, project, construct and explore the systems of distribution and commercialization of electrical power to end users. The Company is also active in the generation of electrical power by diesel power plant. Additionally, the Company is involved in other activities associated to electrical power services, such as technical services in the energy sector and export and import operations. As of December 31, 2011, CELPE was present in all municipalities of the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, as well as in the State District of Fernando de Noronha and in the city of Pedra de Fogo, Paraiba State, covering a concession area of 98,547 square kilometers and serving over 3.15 million clients, primarily in the residential sector. The Company is part of the Neoenergia Group.
