Renewables are riding the crest of the wave. Saint-Gobain Romania and ENGIE Romania have signed a partnership to build the largest photovoltaic park in the country. A 140,000 m2 park, comprising more than 15,000 solar panels dedicated for supplying power to the industrial site in Călăraşi.

ENGIE, a benchmark in low-carbon energy, is leveraging the expertise of its teams in Romania to provide Saint-Gobain with a green, tailor-made solution. The energy park has a maximum capacity of 8.6 megawatts peak (MWp). This will produce up to 14,000 megawatt hours (MWh) each year, equivalent to the average annual consumption of 1,500 homes.

This decarbonized energy will supply 20% of the needs of the Călăraşi glass manufacturing plant and reduce the site's carbon footprint by 2,400 metric tons per year.

In a dynamic and volatile market, this sustainable initiative also provides energy independence and predictability. This is an exemplary partnership that is in line with ENGIE and Saint-Gobain's shared targets for carbon neutrality.
