Chevron Corp. said it was restarting its Pasadena refinery near Houston Monday morning following a shutdown due to a major winter storm a few weeks ago.

In a statement Sunday night to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the refinery said the startup could be wrapped up by Thursday. Refiners throughout Texas were hurt by snow and extreme cold temperatures during the weeklong Winter Storm Uri in mid-February.

Chevron bought the 110,000-barrel-a-day Pasadena refinery from Brazil's state-controlled Petroleo Brasileiro S/A in 2019.
