Capital One Financial : Recognized Among PRWeek’s “Best Places to Work” 2020

At Capital One, we always strive to put our associates first, and we're thrilled to be named in PRWeek's 'Best Places to Work' in the 'In House' category.

Traditionally, the PRWeek survey focused on categories such as internal development, compensation, culture, camaraderie, and employee support and satisfaction. However, the 2020 honorees were selected and judged differently. PRWeek noted that 'organizations' response to the unique circumstances of an unprecedented year factored heavily on the honorees selected.'

When COVID-19 hit, our commitment to our employee workforce was more important than ever. As we all adjusted to new ways of living and working, Capital One remained dedicated to our values of inclusivity, employee development, open communication, and transparency. Salaries did not get slashed. Instead, we did the opposite. Much was increased: benefits, extra PTO, enhanced childcare and, for some, a salary hike.

Capital One took quick and decisive action, communicating each step with our associates and organization stakeholders along the way. Our evolving plans were always centered around making an impactful difference and being agents of change.

As one team member put it, 'We are not just working remotely, we're working remotely during a global pandemic, but we're all conscious of and committed to making each other feel supported.' Another comms team staffer opened up and revealed, 'I had the virus and leadership insisted I take the time I needed, even when I thought I was ready to return. That humane support is exactly what we need right now.'

Capital One also ramped up its diversity efforts in the wake of the social justice movement, matching donations and continuing to educate and increase diversity within our structural organization. Despite a challenging year, we have continued to push boundaries and entrust our employees with the freedom to innovate.
