BMG Welcomes Louis Tomlinson

Louis Tomlinson, a singer with the British-Irish boy band One Direction, has signed a global partnership with BMG. Tomlinson has celebrated huge success as a solo artist as well, and will soon be releasing his second solo album through Bertelsmann's music company. A tour is also planned for the coming year.

Louis Tomlinson is one of the four singers who make up the internationally popular boy band One Direction, which was formed in 2010 as part of the seventh edition of the British casting TV show 'The X Factor' and ended up coming third. But Tomlinson has also made a name for himself as a solo artist: his debut solo album 'Walls,' released last year and featuring hits like 'Two of Us,' 'Kill My Mind,' and 'We Made It,' sold millions of copies around the world, ranked in the top three of the U.K. charts, and made it into the top 10 in the U.S. His solo tracks have collectively generated more than a billion streams. Now the young star is working on his next solo album - and has signed a global partnership with BMG to this end.

Jamie Nelson, BMG VP A&R UK said: 'We are delighted to welcome Louis to BMG. He is already busy working on new music, and we are excited to join him on the next phase of his extraordinary career.' Louis Tomlinson himself commented: ''I'm very excited to start the next part of my journey with BMG.' Speaking of journeys: After last year's cancelled performances, another concert tour is now planned for 2022, which will take Tomlinson to the U.K., other countries in Europe, the U.S., and Australia; many dates are already sold out.

Louis Tomlinson won an 'EMA Award' for 'Best UK & Ireland Act' in 2017 and an 'iHeart Award' for 'Best Solo Breakout' in 2018. He was ranked at number five in 'Billboard' magazine's emerging artist ranking in 2018 and has more than 60 million followers on social media. And in 2020, he was declared 'Artist Of The Summer' at the annual awards presented by Philadelphia radio station 96.5 TDY in the U.S. In December 2020, Louis Tomlinson organized one of the biggest live stream concert events of the year, selling more than 160,000 tickets to fans around the world to raise funds for several charities
