BASKING RIDGE, N.J. (AP) _ Barnes & Noble Education Inc. (BNED) on Tuesday reported a loss of $48.3 million in its fiscal third quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Basking Ridge, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 96 cents. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 51 cents per share.

The operator of book stores on college campuses posted revenue of $411.6 million in the period.

Barnes & Noble Education shares have increased 59% since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
