Today, the chairman of Bankia and the Bankia Foundation for Dual Training, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, called for 'a massive effort in terms of communication and information' to end 'the unjustified historical prejudice against Vocational Training in our country' and 'radically improve the reputation and image of these types of qualifications'.

He made this request during his speech at the Forum Nueva Economía, to which he has been invited to accompany the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Isabel Celaá to analyse the challenges facing vocational training.

Goirigolzarri said everyone - companies, public administrations - must step up to ensure ongoing progress with vocational training, adding that Bankia has already made this commitment.

He drew attention to the Dual Bankia FP programme and the creation of the Bankia Foundation for Dual Training, which are entirely devoted to promoting vocational training.

Among the challenges that lie ahead, Goirigolzarri cited 'the certification of knowledge, better alignment between regional laws, development of a specific contract for dual vocational training, and more of resources from companies and centres, whose coordination is essential'.

Among the available resources to publicise the advantages of vocational training, Goirigolzarri underlined the creation of the first vocational training observatory, presented last November by the Bankia Foundation.

He also insisted on the need to use 'mass vocational training for job training, not only to empower young people but all those who are outside the labour market'. This is even more crucial given that 'dual vocational training students have better job prospects and the companies that promote it are more competitive'.
