AT&T Inc. said Thursday that favorable foreign exchange boosted revenue in Mexico in the second quarter.
Consolidated revenue rose 7.6% in the three months ended June 30, boosted in part by growth in Latin America.
In Mexico, revenue was up 43%, leading 17% sales growth in Latin America, the Dallas telecom said.
"Equipment revenues were $241 million, up 78.5% year over year, driven by higher equipment sales and foreign exchange benefits" in Mexico, AT&T said.
Service revenues in the country also benefited from foreign exchange, up 30% to $ million in the quarter, AT&T said.
The Mexican peso strengthened to 19.91 per U.S. dollar on June 30, from 20.46 per dollar at the beginning of the second quarter.
