Tallink re-opens Tallinn-Stockholm route after nearly 16 months on 9 July 2021 Tue, 15 Jun 2021 09:55:00 +0300

Tallink Grupp has today announced that it will re-open the popular Tallinn-Stockholm ferry route on 9 July 2021, after nearly 16 months of suspension of the route due to travel restrictions between Estonia and Sweden. The route will initially be operated with one vessel, Baltic Queen, with departures from Tallinn and Stockholm every other day.

Although the route will re-open to the public on Friday, 9 July, the company will operate a special cruise to Stockholm also on 7 July, where Tallink's cooperation partners and employees will have the first opportunity to sail again on the route and help 'wake Baltic Queen up from a long slumber to offer the best experiences on the Baltic sea once again.'

Commenting on the re-opening of the route, Tallink Grupp's CEO Paavo Nõgene said:

'When we temporarily suspended the Tallinn-Stockholm ferry route on 14 March 2020, severing the crucial regular maritime connection between our two capitals for the first time in decades, we never thought it would take us nearly a year and a half to restore this connection. We have done what we could during this time, enabling passengers with cars to travel to Sweden using our cargo vessels on the Paldiski-Kapellskär route, temporarily operating a Tallinn-Stockholm-Riga triangle route with our cruise ferry Victoria I and giving customers the option to travel to Sweden via Finland, where and when possible. But nothing has been as good as a direct ferry connection, so I am very pleased that the improvement of the pandemic situation and the progress with the vaccinations, has now reached a point where quarantine-free* travel between Estonia and Sweden is a reality from 1 July and we are able to meet the popular demand at last and re-start operations on this important route.

'As we slowly start coming out of the restrictions and will see how the pandemic situation develops in the coming months, we are re-starting the operations gradually, initially offering departures from Tallinn and Stockholm every other day with one vessel on the route. Our vessels continue to provide sufficient opportunities for social distancing on board and we will continue with the extremely strict hygiene and disinfecting procedures on board.

'At the same time, we are gearing up to offer our customers the best dining, entertainment, relaxation experiences and unfortgettable moments on the Baltic sea as always after the extremely challenging winter and spring. For the last few months we have received questions from our customers almost daily, asking us on both sides when will they be able to sail to Stockholm or Tallinn again. I am pleased to say this time has now arrived and you are all most welcome on board Baltic Queen.'

Baltic Queen will operate from Tallinn and Stockholm on alternate days from 9 July and will operate in the following schedule:

Departure from Tallinn: 18.00
Arrival in Stockholm: 10.30
Departure from Stockholm: 17.30
Arrival in Tallinn: 10.15

Ticket sales for the Tallinn-Stockholm route will open during the day on Tuesday, 15 June 2021.

Re-opening the route will once again also give people working in Scandinavia the option of travelling to work with their cars. For now, Tallink will also continue to take passengers with vehicles on board its cargo vessels Sailor and Regal Star, operating between Paldiski and Kapellskär.

Before booking your trip, please ensure you have checked that you have the right to enter the country at your destination port and you have all the necessary documentation required to enter the country. It is the obligation of every passenger to ensure they are aware of the requirements and have checked the quarantine and self-isolation requirements prior to travelling. *
