WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Amphenol Corp. (APH) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $357 million.

On a per-share basis, the Wallingford, Connecticut-based company said it had profit of $1.15. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains, came to $1.13 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.02 per share.

The maker of fiber-optic products posted revenue of $2.43 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.2 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.2 billion, or $3.91 per share. Revenue was reported as $8.6 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, Amphenol expects its per-share earnings to range from 90 cents to 94 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $2.12 billion to $2.18 billion for the fiscal first quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $2.09 billion.

Amphenol shares have fallen slightly since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 2.5%. The stock has increased 27% in the last 12 months.
