The increasing number of commercial initiatives often launched within the context of governmental strategies - such as the European Hydrogen strategy - confirm green hydrogen as the right technology for achieving ambitious global decarbonization targets. For a rapid deployment of hydrogen applications cost reductions are to be realized, mainly by scaling-up but also by technological innovations in electrolyzer components, including membranes.

Whereas today Agfa's ZIRFON UTP 500 electrolysis membrane is already acknowledged around the world for its best-in-class sustained high productivity, the new ZIRFON UTP 500+ allows for an even 2,5% higher yield* of hydrogen gas and sets a new standard for advanced alkaline electrolysis. (* measured at 10kA/m2)

Marc Van Damme, Agfa's Vice President Electronic Print and Films & Foils, comments: 'The launch of ZIRFON UTP 500+ is the result of continuous efforts to enable our customers to produce green hydrogen at competitive cost. Additionally, the further expansion of the ZIRFON portfolio demonstrates Agfa's confidence in the advanced alkaline electrolysis technology for the future.'

About ZIRFON

Green hydrogen gas is produced via electrolysis, a process that uses green electrical power for transforming water into oxygen and hydrogen. These gases are separated by a membrane that is mounted in the very heart of the electrolyzers and determines to a great extent the efficiency and reliability of the hydrogen production system.
. ZIRFON membranes for advanced alkaline electrolysis are appreciated by customers around the world for their sustained high productivity even in dynamic operating conditions. Another advantage is their excellent durability, which benefits both the reliability and maintenance cost of the electrolyzer system. Learn more on www.agfa.com/zirfon
