US Futures Lower Ahead of GDP, Jobless Reports

(MT Newswires) -- US stock futures are lower in Thursday's premarket session ahead of GDP and weekly jobless claims reports.

The third estimate for Q2 GDP is expected at -0.6%, with the consensus for personal consumption expenditures at 1.5% growth. Jobless claims for the week of Sept. 24 are expected to rise to 218,000 from 213,000 the previous week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are down 0.52%, S&P 500 futures are moving 0.70% lower, and Nasdaq futures are off 1.01%.

Oil prices are moving slightly higher, with front-month global benchmarks Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate crude rising 0.10% and 0.13% respectively.

Shares of Windtree Therapeutics, Inc. (WINT) soared 40% in premarket trading Thursday after it said late Wednesday that a Phase 2 study of istaroxime met its primary endpoint. Senti Biosciences, Inc. (SNTI) surged 39%, extending its gains from the previous session when it rose 10%, and SELLAS Life Sciences Group, Inc. (SLS) climbed 34% higher after closing Wednesday's session relatively flat.

Twin Vee Powercats Co. (VEEE) shares tumbled 31% after it priced a public offering late Wednesday of 2.5 million common shares at $2.75 each for gross proceeds of approximately $6.9 million. Shares of Mercurity Fintech Holding Inc. (MFH) fell 20%, extending its losses from the previous session, and Sunrise New Energy Co., Ltd. (EPOW) shares dropped 19% after closing 11% higher on Wednesday.
