Toronto-traded stocks were mostly higher in midday trading Thursday, boosting the S&P/TSX Composite Index by 75.75 points.
Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 0.4% to 20477.24, while the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 rose 0.4% to 1225.05.
Shares of Brookfield Asset Management Inc. gained 0.6% around midday to 71.39 Canadian dollars a share. Earlier Thursday, Brookfield said it was entering a US$1 billion partnership with Elion Partners, a real-estate investment firm. The deal will give Brookfield's logistics presence in core markets a boost, Brookfield said.
WELL Health Technologies Corp. declined 1.2% on Thursday around midday to C$7.55. The company Thursday morning laid out plans to acquire Aware MD, a company that makes medical software, for C$4.5 million, or about US$3.5 million.
