Sept 7 (Reuters) - Sri Lankan shares fell over 1% on Tuesday, hurt by losses in the financial and consumer staple sectors.

* The CSE All-Share index was 1.46% lower at 9,092.74 points at the closing bell.

* Investment vehicle Browns Investments Plc and conglomerate Lanka Orix Leasing Company Plc were the top drags, falling 2.8%.

* The equity market's turnover was 8.67 billion rupees, according to stock exchange data https://www.cse.lk/pages/daily-market-summary/daily-market-summary.component.html.

* Trading volume on the exchange dropped to 504.8 million shares from 874.4 million shares in the previous session.

* Foreign investors were net sellers in the equity market, offloading shares worth 115.1 million rupees, exchange data showed.

* The island nation reported 3,182 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 468,899, even as the country remains under a lockdown.

* Sri Lanka reported 180 fatalities https://hpb.health.gov.lk/covid19-dashboard due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 10,320.
