Presidency of Republic of Turkey : Phone Call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

Steps, aimed at enhancing the bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia, boosting the trade volume between the two countries in particular, as well as developments in Nagorno-Karabakh, Syria and Libya were discussed during the talk.

President Erdoğan voiced his expectation for the Joint Center, which Turkey will establish with Russia with the aim of observation and monitoring within the framework of the step, taken to resolve the problem in Nagorno-Karabakh and to bring lasting stability to the region, to be active as soon as possible.

Pointing to his sensitivity regarding the return of the Azerbaijani lands in its entirety, President Erdoğan underscored that the Armenian side should not be allowed, during the implementation process, to make a lasting solution more difficult, and to evade its responsibilities regarding the agreement.

President Erdoğan stated that it was impossible to understand the criticism by the other co-chairs of the Minsk Group against the peace efforts.

Highlighting the need for swift and concrete steps, like the ones in Nagorno-Karabakh, to end the conflict in Syria, as well, President Erdoğan noted that the cooperation between Turkey and Russia should be maintained in both political and military talks in order to protect the unity and integrity of Libya.
