Arcese continues to pay attention to the management of its vehicle fleet: this is how Arcese invests in updating its fleet in terms of eco-sustainability

Arcese continues to focus on increasingly sustainable logistics and is continuing with the plan to upgrade its fleet with LNG and Bio LNG-powered vehicles, as demonstrated by its recent expansion with 25 new S-Way LNG vehicles.
The Group's decision to convert its fleet to alternative fuels responds to its long-standing objective of reducing our carbon print. This initiative is in line with European directives, which have set a target of reducing CO2 emissions from commercial vehicle traffic by 30% by 2030.

We are not just focused on sustainability, but: innovation, dematerialisation and digitalisation of processes are now key elements in the solutions offered by the Group in order to guarantee competitive as well as 'green' services. Added to this is security: Arcese is one of the first Italian operators to equip these new vehicles with the VRU - Vulnerable Road User - turning assistance system, thus anticipating a legislative requirement that will come into force in Europe in 2022. The radar on the vehicles identifies any obstacles in the intended area and sends an acoustic and visual signal to the driver, warning him/her promptly to avoid any impact.

"Since the first LNG vehicles were purchased, the importance of vehicle autonomy has been clear to us; along our main routes, the issue of product availability within our distribution network (both LNG and bio-LNG) is very much in the spotlight. However, these new vehicles have a greater capacity, about 15% more, and this helps us to use them more efficiently, even for long distances," comments Carlo La Corte - Technical Transport Manager at Arcese - who continues: "And it is precisely in order to improve the productivity of LNG vehicles that these new vehicles will be deployed on long-haul routes between Germany and Italy."
Today, 16% of the Arcese Group's own fleet is made up of vehicles powered by alternative fuels: one of the objectives set out in the 2020 Sustainability Report is to increase this share and to constantly update and maintain the vehicles.

"Our business model aims for excellence," says Simona Melai, the Group's Sustainability Manager, who continues: "We want to establish ourselves as a leading provider of environmentally friendly logistics services worldwide. Through research and development, we are improving our practices and processes by developing innovative business models. We are therefore committed to reducing our environmental footprint, taking proactive measures against climate change and thereby offering our customers efficient and green logistics solutions. This is also made possible by the active and continuous collaboration and interaction with scientific communities, research institutes and think tanks that deal with ecology and actively cooperate in developing, sharing and implementing innovative technologies, ideologies and ways of thinking."
