Commemorating the Birth, Enlightenment and the Noble Passing Away of Lord Buddha, the annual Vesak Ceremony of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta was held on 10 May 2017 at the Embassy. The lighting of oil lamp at the commencement symbolised the harmonious gathering of all communities of Sri Lanka living in Indonesia. Hon Dilip Wedaarachchi, State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development joined Ambassador Dharshana M Perera, the staff and the Community at the observance of Vesak.

Ven. Udugalmote Siriwimala Thero led the religious ceremony consisting of 'Dhamma Desana', 'Dhamma Discussion' and 'Seth Pirith Chanting.' This is the first time in the recent past that a Ven. member of the clergy from Sri Lanka delivered the Dhamma Desana at Vesak. Ven. Udugalmote Siriwimala Thero who is the Chief Incumbent of Sri Poorwarama Viharaya in Horana was accompanied by five members of the Ven clergy from Indonesia. Atapirikara, Sesupirikara was offered.

A Vesak Dansala was offered while an aloka pooja was offered with the lighting of the oil lamp and Vesak Koodu were also lit.
