Shares of industrial and transportation companies rallied as another positive update from a late-stage vaccine trial inspired bets on a return to economic normality.

The downward trend in the dollar over the last six months has coincided with an upward trend in commodities prices and closely linked emerging-markets investments, said strategists at money manager UBS Global Wealth Management, in a note to clients.

"After a decade of underperformance during which emerging market value stocks lagged growth peers by over 70%, we think it is increasingly likely that this trend will reverse thanks to a global rebound in economic activity over the coming quarters," said the UBS strategists.
