JAKARTA, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Indonesia's annual inflation rate edged up in September, marking the first acceleration since February while remaining below the central bank's target, data from the statistics bureau showed on Thursday.

The consumer price index rose 1.42% on-year in September, matching the median forecast in a Reuters poll and compared with 1.32% in August.

The rate has stayed below Bank Indonesia's target range of 2%-4% since June.

The September core inflation rate, which excludes volatile food and government-controlled prices, was 1.86%, below the poll's 2.00% expectation and the 2.03% rate in August.
