Health-care companies ticked up amid optimism about vaccine sales.
A third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech SE was found in a large study to be highly protective against symptomatic Covid-19, the companies said. Shares of BioNTech surged after the report.
Bluebird Bio continued its retreat from the European Union, where it said it could not receive what it considered a fair price for its gene therapy, pulling an approval application for a therapy targeting a rare neuromuscular disease.
