France sold 5 billion euros ($4.97 billion) in new May 2043-dated government bonds, or OATs, via a syndicate of banks on Tuesday, one of the lead manager banks said.

Orderbooks for the issue closed in excess of EUR32.5 billion, including EUR1.4 billion demand from the joint lead managers. The spread on the bond was set 7 basis points above the yield of the 0.50% May 2040 OAT, the same bank said.

Lead managers of the issue were BNP Paribas, BofA Securities, Deutsche Bank, HSBC and J.P.Morgan.
