The Belgian economy posted a strong economic expansion in the third quarter, the National Bank of Belgium said Thursday.

The country's gross domestic product grew 10.7% compared with the previous quarter, according to the central bank.

The agency revised data for the second quarter of 2020. Following the revision, Belgium's GDP contracted 11.8% in the second quarter compared with a first estimate of a 12.2% decline.

GDP fell 5.2% on year in the third quarter on a calendar and price-adjusted basis, the National Bank of Belgium said.

The eurozone's sixth largest member is usually one of the first to report economic growth in a quarter. France, Spain, Germany and Italy will publish their preliminary GDP estimates for the third quarters on Friday, followed by the eurozone.
