BMF British Marine Federation : British Marine is conducting research on the economic and social benefits of boating in the UK – we need your help!

British Marine is asking members to invite their customers and contacts to take part in a vital survey to collect data for a large report examining the economic, social and health benefits of boating and watersports in the UK and the contribution that they make to wellbeing.
Members are kindly asked to share the survey directly with their audiences on their social media channels and websites. This encouragement to take part will help shape the future of boating and watersports.

As a reward, at the end of the survey each participant will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of three Amazon gift vouchers worth £100 each (terms and conditions apply). The survey is completely anonymous and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. No sharing of personal or sensitive data is required.
Within the industry the physical and mental health benefits of being on or near the water are already well-known. With the Government increasingly factoring wellbeing into their decision making, this piece of research will demonstrate with empirical evidence the contribution that being on the water makes to societal wellbeing. The report will detail the positive value and outcomes generated by the leisure marine industry. This will help garner support from policy and decision makers, as well as funders and partners, to ensure the future of the industry and customer-base.
Providing value to British Marine members, this market intelligence will be shared in Spring 2021, and could be a timely prescription after multiple lockdowns to help showcase the wellbeing benefits of boating and watersports as Summer 2021 approaches. The research will also aid British Marine with ongoing work to help increase watersports Participation.
The survey is being conducted by Simetrica-Jacobs, an independent research consultancy specialising in social impact measurement, policy evaluation and wellbeing analysis on behalf of British Marine and the Canal and River Trust.
