International stocks trading in New York finished mixed on Monday. The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts slipped 0.1% to 165.75. The European index fell 0.4% to 146.07. The Latin American index decreased 0.7% to 190.33. Meanwhile, the Asian index improved 0.5% to 224.60 and the emerging-markets index rose 0.4% to 373.06.

Valneva's ADRs surged 40% on Monday after the company said a Phase 3 trial showed its vaccine candidate outperformed AstraZeneca PLC's in a trial of 4,012 people, and it had a significantly more favorable tolerability profile. Valneva's vaccine produced more neutralized antibodies and there was a complete absence of any severe Covid-19 cases, the company said.

IClick Interactive Asia Group Ltd.'s ADRs shot up 6.9% on Monday after the company said its board received an unsolicited preliminary, non-binding indicative offer from Infinity Equity Management Co. and/or its affiliates, managed funds, co-invested entity and through a special purpose vehicle to buy all outstanding shares for $7.50 an American depositary share in cash.

IClick said its board plans to evaluate the proposed transaction together with a previously announced unsolicited preliminary, non-binding indicative offer from Sept. 23 from PAG Pegasus Fund LP and Oasis Management Co.

ADRs of Toyota Motor Corp. rose 1.3% after the auto maker said it planned to spend $3.4 billion through 2030 to build electric-car batteries in the U.S.
