International stocks trading in New York finished mixed on Wednesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts was flat at 167.49. The European index notched up 0.1% to 147.33. The Latin American index increased 0.7% to 186.13.

However, the Asian index fell 0.2% to 228.42 and the emerging-markets index dropped 0.1% to 379.12.

Stealth BioTherapeutics Corp.'s ADRs tumbled 8.7% after the company said it has received a refusal to file letter from the Food and Drug Administration regarding its new drug application for elamipretide, a mitochondria-targeted therapy for the treatment of Barth syndrome.

Nestlé SA's ADRs, which trade over the counter, rose 2.8% after the packaged-food company raised its full-year sales guidance for the second straight quarter, buoyed by strong demand for coffee and pet food, despite the continuing challenges of rising input costs and supply-chain snags.

Lloyds Banking Group PLC's ADRs fell 1.4% after the company said Wednesday that it is closing 48 branches across England and Wales, as 72% of its total customers are active digital users and fewer people use its branches.
