International stocks trading in New York closed lower on Friday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts fell 1.1% to 152.96. The European index decreased 0.6% to 145.02, the Asian index fell 1.6% to 183.97, the Latin American index dropped 1.9% to 190.82 and the emerging markets index decreased 2.2% to 306.61.

Intesa Sanpaolo SpA and NatWest Group PLC were among the companies with ADRs trading actively.

ADRs of Intesa Sanpaolo fell 4.3% after the Italian lender said a slide in dealmaking activities hit fourth-quarter fee income, though profit and revenue beat expectations.

ADRs of NatWest Group declined 2.6% after the company said the U.K. government has reduced its shareholding in the company to 43.97% from 44.98% previously.
