International stocks trading in New York closed higher on Monday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 1.3% to 156.26. The European index improved 1.2% to 140.45. The Asian index rose 1.4% to 206.25. The Latin American index increased 1.7% to 176.82. And the emerging-markets index rose 1.7% to 338.12.

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s ADRs jumped 10% after the Chinese e-commerce giant said it is reorganizing its e-commerce teams and naming a new chief financial officer in the face of increasing competition in China, slowing growth and a plummeting stock price.

ADRs of ReneSola Ltd. rose 6.9% on Monday after the solar project developer said its board authorized up to $50 million in buybacks of its American depositary shares.

Toyota Motor Corp.'s ADRs rose 1.2% after the company said it is investing $1.25 billion and creating 1,750 jobs with a new electric-vehicle battery plant in rural Randolph County, N.C., according to a public incentives deal approved Monday.
