International stocks trading in New York closed higher Monday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 0.7% to 166.53. The European index improved 0.9% to 144.87. The Asian index rose 0.2% to 228.13. The Latin American index increased 1.4% to 202.43. And the emerging-markets index rose 0.2% to 381.27.

Adaptimmune Therapeutics PLC's ADRs tumbled 6.4% despite the company reporting positive data from its Phase 1 trial for cell therapy ADP-A2M4CD8 in multiple solid tumors. The company said emerging efficacy and durability data are promising, with responses in five solid tumor indications.

Abcam PLC's ADRs fell 2.8% after U.K. supplier of life-science research tools said Monday that it expects a foreign-exchange headwind to revenue growth of around 6% in the six months to Dec. 31.

ADRs of AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. rose 1.4% after the South African gold miner said Monday that it has agreed to acquire 80.5% of North American miner Corvus Gold Inc., which values Corvus at around 570 million Canadian dollars ($450.8 million).
