International stocks trading in New York rose Thursday.

Cemex S.A.B. de C.V. and Ecopetrol S.A. were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 1.2% to 171.04. The European index increased 1% to 144.74, the Asian index improved 1.4% to 239.23, the Latin American index rose 1.6% to 229.66 and the emerging markets index was up 1.7% at 418.33.

Cemex ADRs rose 8.7% to $8.61. The company boosted its guidance for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to $3.1 billion. Its previous estimate was $2.9 billion.

ADRs of Ecopetrol added 10% to $14.68. The company said an exclusivity agreement tied to its potential purchase of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit's 51.4% stake in Interconexion Electrica S.A. was extended through the end of August.
