Consumer prices fell 0.5% on month in July measured by both national standards and EU-harmonized standards, Destatis said. Both figures are less than the respective 0.3% and 0.4% declines forecast by economists polled by The Wall Street Journal.

Consumer prices were down 0.1% on year in national standards, below a forecast of 0.0% from economists polled by The Wall Street Journal. Prices remained flat on year in EU-harmonized standards, below the polled economists' forecast of a 0.2% rise.
