July 8, 2020, Moscow - Speech Technology Center Group, a Sberbank ecosystem member, is running a project with voice recognition for data entry in Electronic Health Records across 35 hospitals in Mordovia, Russia.

The Voice2med solution is based on artificial intelligence, letting doctors enter data into EHRs in real time. During a physical examination, a doctor can use a special microphone to dictate data that gets transcribed instantly and is automatically moved into an open protocol of the medical data system.

The high quality of voice recognition and use of topic models result in EHRs filled in right after an examination is complete, and these records require as few corrections as possible. Voice2med also helps save doctors' time, as the tool leveraging voice recognition software cuts EHR filling in time by 22% compared to traditional data entering. Now doctors can enter data while they use medical equipment.

Pilots of the new solution were launched in February 2020 and included four hospitals in the region. The project was recognized as successful. In July it's adoption is scheduled to start in 16 local hospitals and outpatient clinics in Mordovia, as well as in all major medical institutions on the regional level and outpatient clinics for children in Saransk. The company has already signed contracts with healthcare facilities.

Dmitry Dyrmovsky, CEO, STC Group:

'Our product recognizes all medical terms and phrases, while its recognition achieves 97-98% accuracy rate. I'm sure that down the road electronic health record interactions through voice will be an effective tool not only for diagnosticians, but for other doctors too. The solution is already adopted in radiology wards of Moscow's municipal outpatient clinics and we welcome its scaling in the country's regions.'

Yuri Konnov, chief physician, Central Regional Hospital of Krasnoslobodsk, Mordovia, Russia:

'Clinical record keeping and getting medical documents ready take up time, the time that is meant for physical examination, even when it comes to highly automated clinics. The project has already proved the efficiency of voice recognition for data entry in Electronic Health Records. The Voice2med solution enables doctors to focus on patients, rather than records, while improving the quality of data being entered into EHRs.'
