SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) _ Pacific Ethanol Inc. (PEIX) on Thursday reported a loss of $41.1 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Sacramento, California-based company said it had a loss of 85 cents. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs and to extinguish debt, came to 27 cents per share.

The ethanol producer posted revenue of $357.6 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $88.9 million, or $1.90 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.42 billion.

In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit 36 cents. A year ago, they were trading at $1.04.
