OMV AG The Deauville Green Awards is the largest international film festival for documentaries, commercials and image films on the environment, sustainability, climate change and renewable energies. It was held rom 17 to 19 June in the heart of the 'Flower Coast' in Normandy. More than 250 documentary, image and advertising films had been submitted.
OMV was awarded Gold for its ReOil movie 'Getting crude oil back out of plastic' in the category 'Sustainable production and circular economy'. The circular economy project ReOil supports one of the 15 sustainability goals of the OMV sustainability strategy.
ReOilThe movie shows how OMV uses old plastics to produce synthetic refinery feedstock. This feedstock can be re-introduced into the refinery production process and processed into any desired refinery product, like normal crude oil. With this innovative approach, OMV closes a gap in plastics recycling technology and production by introducing a secondary raw material, called 'recent crudes'.
