Melstacorp PLC recently donated medical equipment worth Rs. 25 million to set up a real-time PCR laboratory at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Angoda (IDH). This is a part of the organisation's broader initiative to actively support the government in its fight against COVID-19.

Hasitha Jayawardena - Director Melstacorp PLC, Stasshani Jayawardena - Director Aitken Spence PLC and Dr. K.Thiyagarajah Iraivan - Executive Director, Melsta Hospitals and CEO, Melsta Health, represented Melstacorp PLC in an official meeting for handing over the equipment with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, and Ms. Bhadrani Jayawardena, Secretary - Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services.

"We will continue to support the President and the government of Sri Lanka at this critical juncture in our nation's history. Our most recent efforts are aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 through proper testing and early detection. We are also doing our very best to ensure a higher standard of healthcare in Sri Lanka and this will remain a priority for the group going forward," said Harry Jayawardena, Chairman, Melstacorp PLC, in a statement issued by the company.
