Approximately 20 CarMax employees recently volunteered at the Jack Minges Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain.

The volunteers helped club members with homework, physical education programs and served them a meal.

“It has been a blessing having them step up and lend a helping hand today. They have enhanced our efforts to implement programs like FitnessGram and our meal program,” Jack Minges Unit Director Heather Joyner said.

The Jack Minges Unit serves an average of 250 children and teens daily. This is just a small portion of the 1,300 total youth served daily by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain. Club programs focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character and citizenship with an over-arching goal of building strong children and communities.

Chris Ryder, general manager of Greenville CarMax said, “CarMax is deeply committed to giving back to our local communities and we feel honored to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain. “This organization does so much to support and encourage our local youth which is something our employees have said they are very passionate about.”

Boys & Girls Clubs are committed to the long-term health of local communities and are preparing today’s youth for the careers of the future.

CarMax has 157 locations in 36 states and more than 12,000 employees nationwide. The Richmond, Va.-based CarMax Auto Superstores is opening a dealership in Winterville.

“Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain understands the importance of our local community’s impact on our ability to provide quality opportunities for the kids and teens that we serve,” said DJ Jones, COO for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain. “TodayCarMax has created a lot of smiles and have proven that it just takes one to make a difference in the life of a deserving child.”
