Ajax and Klaas Jan Huntelaar have reached an agreement for the extension of this contract which had been effective until June 30, 2020. The new agreement is valid for one year, until June 30, 2021.

Huntelaar was born on August 12, 1983, in Voor-Drempt. The striker has played at Ajax since the 2017-2018 season, as well as between 2006-2008. Huntelaar made his debut in Amsterdam on January 15, 2006, in the Ajax - NEC (1-1) match. He has played in 243 official matches to date, and scored 151 goals.

Huntelaar won the national championship with Ajax in 2019. With the club, he's also won the KNVB Cup in 2006, 2007 and 2019, as well as the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2019.

Director of football affairs Marc Overmars: "It's great to sign him for one more year. We want to keep Klaas Jan at the club and we're convinced that he'll be valuable to us next year as a player. But we believe he'll also be valuable in other ways, such as helping develop talented strikers such as Lassina Traoré and Brian Brobbey. We've also discussed other potential roles for him at Ajax in the future, which we'll talk about at a later stage."
